We stopped here on our way back from our Family Vacation at Deep Creek Lake. The server was very friendly, the service was quick and they had great home style cooking. We had hot turkey sandwiches, hot roast beef sandwiches & bacon cheeseburgers. The restaurant is nothing fancy but the food was good and very reasonably priced.

Who would have thought this little diner would be so pleasant. Complete with I Love Lucy wall hangings and a waitress with a smile. We zipped in pre White Tail ski day. It was a perfect breakfast of French toast, bacon, and home fries. I thought it was excellent! I really wanted the fried chicken and Almond Joy pie, but it was 8 am! Next time!

Very quantity little place. Definitely not fine dining but very homey, tasty, and friendly. We stopped on our way through.

Who would have thought that eastbound traffic on I-70 would be so abysmal on a Sunday afternoon? Exhausted after four hours, when we should have been home already, we stopped for a meal at this no-frills roadside diner. Our first surprise was the interior, which was solidly weird. The front feels like a fast-food joint, with specials scrawled on as chalkboard and sterile white floors. Then there's a dark vestibule off to the side with more tables, and around the corner is the main "dining" room, with pink vinyl booths. It felt like a combination of three different rooms, none of which really seemed like a restaurant. Likewise, the service, which others have raved about, was decidedly . . . odd. It took a long time for the lone waitress to make her way to our table, and then another long time for our food to arrive. She wasn't rude, but she definitely wasn't friendly either. Finally, the food: fried chicken was hot and crispy with a little spice, and the hearty soups tasted homemade (my husband, a cream of crab connoisseur, thought theirs was excellent.) His hot turkey sandwich was pretty standard cafeteria quality, as were the sides of corn and green beans I ordered. Their coconut cream pie was really excellent, thick and sweet with a crispy crust, though I didn't understand the meringue top -- I had thought plain whipped cream was the standard. Overall, solidly above average but not amazing. So? If you're stuck in traffic and starving, go for it. Just don't expect greatness.

This is an unassuming old time restaurant where locals hang out. They have the best cream of crab soup I've ever had. My husband has also tried the potato soup and really enjoyed it. On various visits we've eaten: Chicken sandwich Onion rings Mac & cheese Turkey open faced sandwich Beer-battered cod Waffle fries Hush puppies Chocolate cake with peanut butter Pumpkin roll Red velvet cake Everything is hot and quite good. The service is friendly and the price is appropriate. We always visit at least once when we come to Whitetail.

This place was on the way to ocean city and it was fun! It was country, simple, clean, and home style. Loved it and the pies in the window looked amazing!

Small but good, service has always been good and the price is reasonable. Saves a trip to Hagerstown. Oh and the cream of crab soup is a must!!

Stopped here during Ragnar Relay because the next exchange wasn't open for a few hours. Amazing great diner. Highly recommended. Will be back next year! (Grilled cheese, fries and peanut butter pie are my recommendations) Also read the board! Missed out on waffle fries and sweet potato fries :(

This place really cracked us up! Definitely all locals. The staff would take breaks with the patrons, asking "How's your mama?" and that type of questions. I overheard one server set down a plate at the next table, stating, "I know this isn't what you ordered, but I guess this is what she decided she wanted you to eat." No kidding!! Since it was extra food on the plate, I guess no one really cared! Very inexpensive. It was $11 plus tip for the two of us to have a hearty breakfast. Give it a try!

Let's start with dessert: The coconut pie was really good. The apple pie was ok. As for savory, the hot turkey sandwich was just ok too. The turkey itself was moist and tender but the gravy and potatoes were disappointing. The crab soup was good and very, very rich. It's a laid back, small town kind of diner to grab some carbs before you hit the slopes nearby.

Stopped by on the way to WV, easy access from I-70. Maryland Club soup was awesome! Hamburger with everything was fresh. Try the delicious Potato Bloom, like French fries but thin like potato chips. Green beans were bit salty but still yummy; you can taste the ham bone cooked in. 4 stars or 5? Definitely five considering the prices (lunch for two - under $20).

Have eaten here for many years and I just keep going back for the hot roast turkey sandwich. Pros: Most if not all food seems to be homemade. Service is friendly. Price matches quality (for the most part). Cons: Place could use a touch up or two (torn fabric on benches etc) Some food seems frozen but it's touch and go on what you get.

The Clear Spring Country Diner was Well worth the short detour off I-70. We started off with a cup of each of the 2 homemade crab soups: Maryland and Cream of Crab. Both were outstanding. Then on to one of the chalkboard specials of the day: beerr battered cod. We asked to substitute sliced cucumber salad for the Mac 'n Cheese. No problem and a delicious choice. The second side featured, stewed tomatoes, had sold out, The beets we took instead were fine, but not special. Then there was dessert. We thought we had died & gone to Heaven after our first bite of Almond Joy Pie! Oreo crust, chewy coconut filling with toasted almonds and whole almonds drizzled with chocolate on the top!!! Indescribably delicious. Will be returning just for thar!!! Will probably even call ahead to order a whole pie to take home. The staff could not have been more welcoming. We arrived shortly before the 8 pm closing time, but were served graciously and warmly. Prices from an earlier era! What a great discovery. We can't wait to get out of the "fast lane" and enjoy dining again at the Clear Spring Country Diner!

Have been here a few times and stopped in for lunch today. I've had the burgers and fried chicken but today I went with the fried chicken. The food is always fresh and the servers are very friendly and helpful, a world of difference from the servers closer to DC. I fully recommend the chicken or burgers.

Stopped at this little place on our road trip and it turned out to be great. Got the house dog, fantastic. Onion rings were also good.

A small diner that appears to be mostly locals. The service was good and the food was delicious! We were staying at the Sleep Inn down the road and wanted something other than McDonalds for breakfast and it was perfect.
